Hello,

This sounds like the Mode door actuator is out and needs to be replaced. here are instructions and diagrams to help you get the job done below with a generic repair guide to help you see the job being done on a different car so you can see what you are getting yourself into:

They call it a radiator damping servo. Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.

Hello Ken,

Please apologize for my English writing I hope you will understand what I want to explain. Yesterday my brother in law a senior car mechanic worked on my problem and he didn't resolve it. On the passenger side he removed glove box, lower air bag, etc, to do this we had to remove the clock, radio and A/C center block and center console top etc. To resume according to him all the servos do their job? We succeeded to produce air vent to face and feet exit by turning manually the plastic part connected to the shutter allowing that function (shutter works freely). I don’t understand and will continue my investigation to validate if the gears moving the plastic part do the job completely. It doesn’t seem to be. Meanwhile if you have some idea let me know.
Regards,
Daniel

Hi Ken,

I investigate for a while and gears connected to servo motor don’t move any shutter. I used the switch to set defrost, face or feet. No gears move and I have vent all places. It is not useful to get cold air in defrost position when it’s very hot outside. To access two screws retaining the servo motor is it easy to remove the fan and intake assembly or is there a special screwdriver to use in these small spaces?
Thanks,
Daniel

Yes, you may need to use a little imagination to get the screws out. Can I ask if the other controls seem to work? Can you turn the system on and watch the actuator move?

Hello Ken,

The other controls seems working fine I see some moving parts. The air outlet control servo motor has not been reseated correctly (quote my brother in law) that explain why arms don’t move. I will try again to remove the unit (those two screws).

Yep, it sounds like you are on the right track. Can you please shoot a quick video with your phone so we can see what's going on? That would be great. You can upload it here with your response.

Hello Ken ;
The problem is not fixed but I can explain what was going wrong. A screw (do not know where it comes from) prevented the gears from working, I extracted the screw by removing the gear cover but I will have to rebuilt it. Don’t know if I will succeed. Do you know if the blower and inside air intake assembly can be removed easily to re position the gear cover or should I forget it? In the meantime i’m going to try again and again.
Regards, Daniel

Hello Ken ;
Case close Toyota Camry Hybrid 2014;
Abstract : no vent nor cold or hot air at faces and feet ; defrost OK
Problem source ; a screw fall in air vent gears that prevented the door to works accurately
Problem solution :
-removed the housing containing the wheel path (and by the way removed the falled screw ) to do this you have to unscrew 3 screws. 2 at the bottom (you have to use a very short screwdriver for 1 of these) .1 screw at the top (activate the air recirculation; it open a door and you will be able to access the screw passing through the left side of the opened box)
-replaced the housing containing the wheel path ; didn’t install completely. Just enough to see how the wheel worked and did it many times to find the appropriate way. Tied screws when worked correctly
Not easy. No space. No professional tools. Anyway it’s done.
Tks for help
Regards
daniel
