EGR valve had a hole blown in the side, replaced the EGR valve now the car won’t accelerate.

Hi,
When you replaced the EGR, was a new gasket used? Also, there is a vacuum supply to the EGR. Is that connected? If you start the engine and remove the vacuum hose, is there a vacuum source present?

Hi,
As far as the vacuum, it is controlled by an electronic vacuum regulator valve. So vacuum changes based on conditions. It will fully actuate the EGR once the vehicle is warm, under a moderate load, and the PCM determines it can open
The thing is this. If there is no power, it sounds like the EGR is open at all times. We need a vacuum for it to open, so let's try something.
I attached a pic of the EGR vacuum regulator below. Allow that to remain connected, but I want you to remove the vacuum supply at the EGR itself. At the end of the vacuum hose you disconnected, plug it with a screw or something that will prevent vacuum loss.
Test drive it and see if it runs any differently. If it does, the regulator may be faulty
Let me know what you find.

Okay, I was thinking something was causing full vacuum at all times and the valve was being held open. Were you able to take it in today?
As far as the damage, the only thing I could think of is if it cracked, damaged, or removed and not installed correctly. Do you have a pic of it that I could see?

The EGR valve that exploded was the pen part.

Hi,
If the converter was bad, it should set a code such as a P0420. However, anything is possible.
Also, since we had an EGR that was blown out, that could have been an escape for the exhaust if the converter was an issue. Once you installed the EGR with a new one, the leak was repaired as well. A plugged converter will certainly cause a power loss. Take a look through this link. Also, as a simple test, remove the upstream oxygen sensor (pre-cat) and see if you get the power back.
