Engine Performance problem 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 90000 miles

My 04 xterra all of a sudden has loss of power in high range going up inclines. Also, it is consuming almost twice as much gasoline. Check engine light is NOT coming on.

Thanks

I would still get a scan as not all faults set a check light, it will be a tune issue I feel, is it excessively dark in the exhaust? And is it selecting top gear and kicking down a gear when under load?

Does anyone monitor old threads? Here it is 2018, and I'm having a similar problem with my 2004. 174k.

My 2004 Nissan Xterra is having the same issue. It has a clocked 0-60 of 37.4 seconds red lining. Now it has come to be even worse. On initial startup, it has power, then once it gets warm, the power is drastically reduced. Another issue its been having is hard repeated jerking when I let off the accelerator, especially below 3000 RPMs. It won't do it if I let off the gas slowly, or press in the clutch, which causes me to think it's something with the clutch. If there could be any reason for these problems, I would greatly appreciate it, thank you.

Hello,

It does sounds like the clutch is having issues. Is the check engine light on? Can you please shoot a quick video with your phone so we can hear the engine noise and see what the car is doing? That would be great. You can upload it here with your response.

The video is poor quality, but you're able to hear the jerking right as it starts and I press the clutch around eleven seconds in.

This is another video where it was present. It doesn't rattle every time I let off the gas, but often enough to catch, and it's very noticeable.

Thanks for the videos. It sounds like the drive-line could be having issues. I would remove the driveshaft to check the U joints. Here is a guide to help:

Please run down this guide and report back.
