I have a 1997 Nissan Pickup, 4cyl 2.4l engine, with 163,000 miles. About a week ago it died while I was sitting at a light and would not restart. When I started driving it that morning it acted like it was having trouble accelerating and the check engine light started flashing but once it got moving it was fine. Once it was towed back to my house I tried several things to try to start it including replacing the plugs and plug wires, rotor cap and button, fuel filter, new gasket for the mass air flow sensor that is only 2 years old and new air filter. I had a diagnostic run and it was coming back with a coolant temperture sensor. I've replaced the coolant temp sensor. It will start with no issues now but it continues to die everytime you try to give it gas. Any ideas would be appreciated on this. My next thing to check is the fuel pressure and check the fuel pump.

I fixed my truck yesterday. It was a coil. On the nissan trucks you cant just replace the coil, you have to replace the whole distributor. Unless you go to the junkyard like I did. The coil was actually arcing through the back side of the coil. Replaced that and it was up and running no problem.
