Electrical problem
1987 Nissan Truck 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

My Nissan pickup was taken out on our farm by my nephew and was running fine. When he got back he said they hit a fence post. There wasnt any body damage so I figured no big problem. The next day I went to start it and it did nothing. No dash lights or anything. I replaced the battery, starter, and bypassed the fusible link. Now I have dash lights but still no power to the starter. I checked all the relays and inhibitor switch. All seem to be working correctly. Could it be the ignition switch? If so how can I test it or bypass it? I really need my farm truck running again. Its no fun carrying 10 bails of hay 1/4 mile everyday. LOL. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If it's just an old junk truck, add a switch and some wire to the small exciter terminal on the starter solenoid.

Today I tried testing the power from the ignition to the starter solenoid and it seemed to be delivering power when the key was turned. Im at a complete loss. The starter is brand new and was tested. It works great. I dont even know where to check next

If you are saying that the starter is not turning the engine over, then here's a shot in the dark.

I had a customer with a 84, she would sometimes forget to turn the key off.

The fuel pump would keep running and would flood one of the cylinders. Locking the engine.

I would remove the spark plugs and then crank the engine over. Spraying gas all over the place.

So be careful of a fire.

Good luck

Have ya checked the inhibitor switch in the steering column? Even if you did. Try unplugging it at the connector just under the steering wheel. Hope it helps ya out. :)
