2000 Nissan Sunny grinding noise in reverse gear

I hear a grinding noise in the reverse gear, but only after I travel a considerable distance. Cold start(in the morining) it shifts normally. It is only for the reverse gear.

what might be the problem?

HI there,

Drain the transmission oil & check for metal, see how it goes with fresh oil and report if any sizable shards are present in the oil oil.
