2006 nissan sentra. This is my cousing so I will explain the best I can. The vehicle will move but wont shift the rpms just go high. If the vehicle is in overdrive the car shifts smoothly and has no issues. He bought the car with 14000 miles on it and now the car has 88000 miles on it. THe car has been doing this since he bought it. He just drives it in overdrive. I am planing on buying it from him. I remembered when he first bought the vehicle it was doing this but I didnt pay any attention because it was his vehicle. Since his car is near 100,000 should tranny fluid get changed soon.

At 88k I should be on its second service by now. When it is serviced you need to use Nissan trans fluid, or risk doing damage to the trans. HAs the check engine light ever come on? If so have it scanned, there may be a code related to the trans that may explain why it does that

There is no check engine light on. When you say second service are you talking about a tranny flush

Not sure I would flush it, just repalce the filter and whatever fluid it takes after that to bring the level up to correct, usually about 5 quarts

If it scans ok, even though there is no check engine light, then it must be something internal. Possibly a stuck valve in the valve body or a bad solenoid. May want to do the scan, the trans can set codes without setting thelight
