I have a 2006 nissan sentra, 86,000 miles. Can runs fine, but it hesitates to start every so often, and my major issue is when my foot is on the gas pedal and the car is accelerating the RPM'S go up to like 3, when my foot is on the brake, it goes back down to less than 1. As well it takes a while to pick up speed. What could the problem be? Ive only had it 1 week and if this is a major issue I want to know now, so I can possibly see if its covered under my warranty?

Hi ncgirl85,

Thank you for the donation.

Is the Check Engine Lamp indicating?
Apart from the symptoms described, do you have any other issues?

Even though the CEL might not be showing, there could be trouble codes stored in the engine computer. Get a free sacan done at Autozone to see if any are found. If any trouble codes are present, please post the EXACT code here.

One of the common cause of the symptoms described is the Mass Air Flow Sensor. It could be dirty and not providing the correct signals. It might not trigger a trouble code.
