Engine Mechanical problem
1999 Nissan Sentra 4 cyl Automatic

Replaced starter on vehicle, it started once but now won't start - received an OBD P0400 code, checked vacuum lines & wires, nothing loose but it still won't start - any idea on what the problem could be & what to try?

P0400 - Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Malfunction

A code P0400 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

Plugged EGR passage which restricts the flow of exhaust gasses
Faulty EGR solenoid
Faulty EGR solenoid wiring/harness
Vacuum lines damaged/disconnected to the EGR valve solenoid or to the EGR valve
Faulty EGR valve

If its cranking over and will not start do below

Get a helper disconnect a sparkplug wire or 2 and ground it to the engine -have helper crank engine over-do you have a snapping blue spark? If so-you have a fuel related problem, check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel filter/fuel pump/pressure regulator and listen to the injector/s are they pulsing or hook up a noid light. No snapping blue spark continue to troubleshoot the ignition system-power input to the coil/coil packs, coil's resistances, distributor pick-up coil, ignition control module, cam and crank sensors and computer Note: If it doesn't apply disregard it
