1996 Nissan Sentra GXE, 135000+ miles. I recently had the CV joints, shocks, and struts all replaced on my car just before I moved cross-country. Everything was great during the 1500+ mile move. However, a few days ago I notices a slight clunking noise in the left front. Yesterday, it turned into a rather loud clunk as I was turning left into my very inclined driveway. I've had the CV joints go bad before and this new clunk is very similar to that kind of noise. Do you have any suggestions as to what this might be other than a defective CV joint?
Also, my odometer has slowly been failing over the past few months. It seems to stick and only register maybe half the miles I'm driving. (It was actually a relief when I discovered that this was happening and my fuel economy hadn't dropped dramatically.) Are there any simple fixes for this or am I going to need to replace the odometer? I live in the Seattle area. Do you have any idea how much it would cost to have the odometer replaced?
