Noises problem
1996 Nissan Sentra 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 190k+? miles

Have 96 sentra and yesterday driveing to a wedding my car started making a loud clicking noise about a mile from my destination. So when I came to a stop sign and continued on, the sound increassed then Cracked. I heard a loud crack, and my car died, no power steering, or breaks, but stereo still worked. Now car won't start.

Little Back history, have had many many altorator replacements, just replaced the starter 3 times last month. Then day after i replaced the last starter, Reverse went missing. Reverse would work if I reved engine high enough. but would slip. Please help, Broke to the bone and can't afford a new vehicle.

I think your transmission is on its last leg.

The loud snap, crackle and pop: I believe you busted your chain tensioner and probably broke the timing chain as well.
