1994 Nissan Sentra Battery light & Brake light come on

My brake light and battery light come on together when I accellerate. At idle, the lights are not illuminated. Press the accellerator, the lights come on, let up on the pedal, and the lights go off.

Is this a short in the system or an alternator problem? I'm getting 13.85V from the alternator at idle.

Check the alternator belt tension/load test the battery to check its conditon also make sure its cleaned and tightened properly. Double check all connections at the battery and alternator
