1993 Nissan Sentra Front Wheel Drive Automatic 100000 miles

Broke my only key in half the other day outside of the car so nothing is stuck in the ignition, it wasn't the master key so it didn't have any of the code written on it to replicate the key properly, instead I was forced to have one cut by the key cutter using the broken key as a template, it wasn't the best idea but i couldnt move or lock my car and it was in a dodgy area of town. The new key is a bit rough but it gets the job done, it only rotates in the ignition if a certain side is facing towards me when i rotate it. I went to get another key cut and the key cutter, different guy this time, said it my new key was rubbish and i need to have my ignition taken apart by a locksmith and this is going to cost me $100 instead of a new key cut from the "ignition key code". I don't have any original manuals and don't want to pay $100. How do i get the "ignition key code" without paying a fortune to have another PROPERLY cut? thanks heaps

many nissans have an ignition key code in the glove box. take the code to a full service locksmith and they can cut the key from the code.
