Engine Performance problem
1988 Nissan Sentra 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 160K miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
Where do you hook up the tachometer on a 1988 Nissan Sentra 1.6L TBI SOHC E16i engine to adjust the idle.

Thank You

Find the plain black wire at the coil connector pierce it and hook up the Tach there-make sure you disconnect the throttle position sensor/switch and on drive handbrake applied while adjusting it.

I am not sure if it makes a difference, but the car is a 1988, and the picture that you sent does not look the same. I have seen a Nissan Sentra 1989 and they do not look the same Thanks Sean

There will be an idle screw that will show when you start turning on it-which will open the throttle gradually as you turn/look closely. This the TBI unit that I just pulled looks like yours-this is where you adjust. Good Luck

I'm sorry, what my question was, is where do you attach the tachometer on a 1988 Nissan Sentra when you want to adjust the idle? I know where the idle adjust screw is, I just don't know where to hook up the Tachometer. Believe me even the crappy manual does not tell me where to hook it up at (Chilton). I sure am glad I got it free.

Your help is very much appreciated.
