The engine runs rough and the tachometer flucutuates

Sounds like it is misfiring.Is the check engine light on too?If so have it scanned for codes, this will most likely point to the cylinder that is missing.The tach will fluctuate with a misfire as the engine surges, that part is normal for a misfire
