I took my car to the repair shop for new brake pads and the mechanic told me that the rattling sound coming from the car was my catalytic converter. The car does not overheat or smell. I was advised that I need a new catalytic converter and an 02 sensor. If the catalytic converter is rattling can I just have it repaired without replacing and if not, what is the average cost for replacing it?

it will cost about 150-200 for a oem catalytic convrter, you have to replace it not repair it.
