1996 Nissan Pathfinder Four Wheel Drive Creaking!

I have a nissan pathfinder almost 190k on it. Its been a great ride. I cant bring myself to trade it in. But every time I put it into 4 wheel drive low, when I turn my wheels far right or left, I hear this horrible loud creaking, almost like something is going to break. I dont hear it going straight, or when im not in 4 wheel drive. I do need new struts. Any ideas what this could be?
