1991 Nissan Pathfinder gas fuel cap cover will not release

1991 Nissan Pathfinder 58000 miles

When i push down on the gas cap cover (release) inside,the outside cover will not flip open.

I had the same prob.. just pry it slowly with a screwdriver and it should pop this happend to me in cold temps what happens is the little plastic latch freezes in place once u get it open lubricate it and it should fix it. otherwise its the actual cable..
