What is upstream of the meter?

What do the walls of the air passage to and from the meter look like? contaminated, clean?

Any signs of oil?

What does the air filter look like?

IS it a "performance" or oil saturated filter?

sorry meter was the wrong word, i had the car put on a diagnostic machine, and it came up as the air flow meter (it actually said it on the screen) when i removed it i saw that it was actually broken, there is no sign of oil, car actually runs better with the air flow meter disconnected but still bogs out, the air filter is a standard one

Glad you figured it out. A code descrption does not mean a particular part is bad.

i understand what your saying about the code, what i don't understand is what could be causing the air flow meter itself to come apart at the point where it should be sodderd together, it was solid when i installed it, any idea ?

Defective part, poor quality control. Was it a remanufactured one?

I've seen my share of parts that were bad right out of the box.

a1-cardone is usually good. Ideally a new one is the best bet.
