91 nissan maxiam will not shut off

adjusted the cluch switch and now the car will start but now when you turn the key off the engine dose not shut off... can take the key out engine runs all the warning lights will light up have to pull the ignition relay and the car will turn off... with out the relay you can start and turn off the car fine... replaced the ignition relay and still have the same problem... any idea's...

Your ignition switch is failing

disconnected all the wires from the ignition while the car was running and it did not kill the engine... so if it was the ignition wouldnt it kill the car as soon as i disconnected the wires....

You probably disconnected the wrong wire harness-when its disconnected no power will go to the switch.-The switch powers the ignition system in On position. No power there it will never start. Trust me.
