i bought my versa brand new and i have been having this starting problem ever since. i try to start the car, and sometimes it starts perfectly. sometimes it takes 2-3 times to start. today it stopped starting all together! it only makes the "starting noise".
somebody told me it could be the fuel pump? but i understand that the fuel pump problem will kill your engine even while driving. should i check wires? starter? spark plugs ( which have never been changed) fuses? distributor? i'm sure it's not the battery..

If it doesn't start, check for spark and fuel to the engine. One is most likely missing.

Let me know what you find

i had it towed into the dealership repair shop, and they told me the problem was the fuel pressure sensor?! it was dropping down to 20psi after a min.. so they replaced it for a total of $250.. now i guess it reads at 50psi.. but it still doesn't start sometimes right away and still sometimes has the long crank (sound when starts)

I had a feeling it was fuel or spark related. If it is still hard to start and we know the pressure is good, then I have to ask when the last tune up was? Also, did they check the temp sensor?
