1993 Other Nissan Models Speedometer non working for Nissan

My Speedometer unexpectedly stopped working with the speed dial constantly remaining on Zero regardless of the speed travelled. What could be the problem?

The Car I have is an L registered Nissan Micra 1.3L, 1993.

Any help would be appreciated.

replace the speedometer cable
