1988 nissan pulsar nx se 1.6,156,000 mi,fuel filter problem

bought car, drove two weeks, engine light comes on and dies. cool off restart and drive. interrmittant problem becomes permanant. fuel filter replaced, drive two days, repeat! on third fuel filter.

Check the fuel pressure-sounds like the pump is failing.

Crap can be the problem-now you need to get in there maybe thru the backseat to access it-

Check the fuel pressure and also the fuel pump relay. When it goes dead-immediately look for spark and fuel this will give you a direction where to go.

has spark, died on me last night. below zero temps. replaced fuel filter this morning. ran til completely warmed up, no problem yet. idles slow but dealer adjusted TPS. now idles about 500 RPM. fuel pump only runs 3 to 4 seconds now but 8+ w/bad filter.
HEET and additives in tank. full tank of gas.
