1986 Other Nissan Models 4 cyl Four Wheel Drive Manual

my son has a 86 nissan 4 wheel drive truck and he was driving it and when he parked it it was running and moving fine. now we can't get it to move at all and we don't know why???? it starts up you can shift but it won't move please help it is in gear and the trans. is not moving.. we have checked everything i can think of... the ebrake cable was pulled when we pulled out a friend the truck won't move i loosen the ebrake line back up and it was fine til he drove it down the driveway and parked it and now it won't move.... i'm not sure what type of model this truck is..

Hi there,

Just check that you have not knocked the transfer into neutral with out knowing, if that is ok, see if the tail shaft is turning when in gear and is the speedo working when in gear?

Hi there,

With the engine running and foot off the clutch can you select gears with out it trying to grind?

Yes I can shift and it doesn't grind the gears. And the speedo don't move when I hit the gas. And the shaft is not moving.

Hi there,

The drive has been lost between the engine & the transmission, either the clutch has shattered or the input shaft in the gearbox has snapped, regardless the transmission must be removed to inspect this further.
