I was driving my 1972 datsun 240z around town for a couple of hours, it drove and breaked fine. I stopped at a store to get a soda, turned my car back on and started driving. I pull up to a stop sign and for some reason the break peddle was really hard and didnt stop my car like it was suppost too. When I push on the break it makes this funny hissing sound. I tryed to bleed the breaks and didnt seem to work any better. I was wondering if you know what I may need to do for my breaks to be the way they were. Thanxz

The brake booster could be leaking also inspect the vacuum hose and check valve then report back with your findings so that we can continue to assist.

I have checked the booster there is no sign of leaks. Ive checked the vacuum hose and thats fine. You told me to check the valve but I dont know what that is. Another thing I didnt mention is when my car is on I hit the breaks and it gives my car more rpm do you know why?

When I push on the break it makes this funny hissing sound. Where do you think its coming from?

To check the vacuum booster, pump the brake pedal with the engine off until you've bled off all the vacuum from the unit. Then hold the pedal down and start the engine. You should feel the pedal depress slightly as engine vacuum enters the booster and pulls on the diaphragm. No change? Then check the vacuum hose connection and engine vacuum. If okay, the problem is in the booster and the booster needs to be replaced.
