I HAVE A 2007 MURANO WITH 19,200 MILES
THE PROBLEM THAT I AM HAVING IS THICK WHITE EXHAUST SMOKE UPON START UP. AT FIRST IT WAS JUST WHEN ENGINE WAS COLD AND HAD BEEN SITTING FOR A WHILE. NOT IT IS HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY EVEN WHEN THE ENGINE IS WARM OR HAS BEEN RUNNING FOR A WHILE.
THIS IS ONLY HAPPENING WHEN THE ENGINE IS STARTING. IT DOES NOT SMOKE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN.
OTHERWISE THE ENGINE RUNS GOOD.
IT IS JUST THE EXHAUST ISSUE THAT I AM HAVING.

THANK YOU

White smoke is an indicator of antifreeze being burned in the combustion chamber(s) in the engine, this could be a head gasket, cracked head, or engine block problem, Return to the dealer for warranty work! Some throttlebodies are cooled with antifreeze as well and the gasket could be leaking there too.

THANK YOU FOR THE ANSWER, BUT ALL I AM GETTING FROM THE DEALER IS THAT IT IS ENGINE SLUDGE?

I FIND THAT EXTREMELY HARD TO BELIEVE WITH ONLY 19K MILES. I HAVE OWNED SINCE NEW.

PLEASE ADVISE

For the price of the block test kit you can be sure one way or the other.
If the dealer thinks it's engine sludge, how did they come by this determination? PCV been checked? Try opening the oil filler, is there a whitish gunk under the cap?
