2004 Nissan Maxima Little heat and funny smell

2 issues with the car and they may be related?? Very little heat from heater even after driven for several miles. Also, there is a funky odor coming from the engine...smells like bad radiator fluid. Thoughts?

I suspect there is coolant leakages resulting in the strange smell and heater not working correctly.

Check the coolant level in the radiator when engine is cold.
