2004 maxima. When the heater is on, it blows hot air as long as the rpm's stay above 1500. But if they fall below 1500 (i.E. During idle while at a stoplight), the heater blows cold air. I know this is not a thermostat, as the auto climate control doesn't turn on until the car is warm, and as long as the rpm's stay high, the heat is fine. What's the deal?

Hello,

You have an air pocket stuck in the heater core which is common. With the car hot and the heater on full blast raise the rear using a jack as far as you can and let it sit for 2 minutes and will see the coolant level drop telling you the air bubble is out.

Here are two guides that can help as well.

and

Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.

Cheers, Ken
