Engine Mechanical problem
2003 Nissan Maxima Front Wheel Drive Automatic

This is the second time the Check Engine Light has come on for this code. The first time it was reset and within a month it has come back on for the same code. Why would you think the timing over advanced, could it be a sensor on the camshaft and would you recomend it be taken in for a timing check and or repair? The VIN# is; JN1DA31A83T408436. Thanks, Art Shields

The first steps in the complete diagnostic is to make sure the:
1. Engine oil is at the operating level; add oil if needed. Refer to the Service Manual for low oil level diagnoses if needed.
2. Oil pressure is normal when measured with a gauge at the pressure switch port. Refer to the Service Manual for low oil pressure diagnoses if needed.

OK, from your reply I'm getting that this could be an oil pressure problem instead of a camshaft problem, would that be correct to asume? So in that case it could be the oil pump or not enough oil in the vehicle.

Thanks for the information. The question was for my friend which I have passed onto her and she will have her car checked out as per what you have told me. Thanks once again.

Make sure to have her check the oil as a 1st step and also keep up with the oil changes.
