Retrieving codes do below
USING AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT
Turn ignition off then on. System is now in USER mode.
If light comes on for about 7 seconds and goes off, system is okay (no fault codes are stored in memory).
If light does not come on, go to AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS .
If light comes on and stays on, either SRS has deployed or part of diagnosis sensor unit is defective. Go to AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT STAYS ON under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS.
If light comes on for about 7 seconds and flashes on and off, fault codes are stored in memory. Go to next step.
To enter self-diagnostics and retrieve fault codes, turn ignition from off to on and immediately turn driver door switch (dome light switch) on and off more than 5 times within 7 seconds of turning ignition on. This changes self-diagnostic mode from USER mode to DIAGNOSIS mode.
In DIAGNOSIS mode:
If light flashes slowly and continuously (3 seconds ON, 2 seconds OFF), a fault occurred but is no longer present (intermittent fault).
If light flashes a marker sequence (7 seconds ON, 2 seconds OFF, 3 seconds ON, 2 seconds OFF) and then flashes quickly, record quick flashes. Quick flashes represent driver or passenger-side air bag fault codes. For example, two quick flash represents Fault Code 2. Eight quick flashes represents Fault Code 8. Go to FAULT CODES under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS.
If light flashes a marker sequence (7 seconds ON, 2 seconds OFF, 1.5 seconds ON, .5 second OFF, 1.5 seconds ON) and then flashes quickly, record quick flashes. Quick flashes represent side air bag fault codes. For example, one quick flash represents Fault Code 1. Four quick flashes represents Fault Code 4. Go to FAULT CODES under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS.
After servicing system, connect both battery cables, open driver-side door, and turn ignition from off to on. Check AIR BAG warning light for proper system function. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK . If fault code is indicated, problem still exists, go to FAULT CODES under DIAG%20...
