My check engine light came on about 700 miles ago. I've noticed cold start sputtering. The scanner reads "to lean". The one mechanic said it was possible that the mass air flow sensor was not grounded enough. He added another ground to it and this did not help. They said it may have a vacuum leak. This sounds like something that may be a common problem with these cars. Could the mass air flow sensor be bad or do you think it has a vacuum leak or something else?

In general, if a vacuum leak isn't bad enough to cause a missfire, it won't set the light. If the code they got when they scanned it says the mass air flow sensor has caused the light to come on, chances are it is bad.
