2001 Nissan Maxima check engine light is on

2001 Nissan Maxima 6 cyl Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 133000 miles

I have a nissan maxima 2001. When the car is cold I have to put my foot on the gas peddle until it warms up and then the niddle is on the number 1 gage. I have to do this all the time. I was told that it might be the air flow meter valve. But I am not sure. And the check engine light is on what should I do. I took it to get it check by a computer for cars to check the problem and they said that the throttle might be bad or the air control valve.

The problem most likely will be the idle air control valve in my expert opinion. There is coolant that runs through this valve to heat it up and I find all the time that coolant leaks into the valve and causes it to seize up, causing your exact symptom.
