Please!!!! somebody help me....do you have to remove the engine from a 1999 nissan maxima in order to get to the crankshaft pulley to replace it.

Hello,

No you don't have to remove engine. But, you will need to support engine and remove engine mounts in order to lower the engine enough to remove crank pulley.

This model only requires the removal of the right front wheel, splash shield and drive belts in order to gain access to the crank pulley. Once you are to this point simply unbolt the crank pulley and gently rock the pulley from side to side while puling to remove it. There is clearance to remove the pulley without removing any motor mounts, lowering of the engine etc.
If the pulley is a little stubborn the use of 2 pry bars can be used to aid the removal just be sure not to pry against the signal plate attached to the pulley. Damage to this plate will result in the engine not starting.
