1999 Nissan Maxima 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

Can you help, we jumpstarted another vehicle and immediately the battery light came on in our car. We drove it and then the ABS light came on. This went away after about 10 mins, now we cannot get the car to start. It seems that the battery is not charging, and we wondered whether or not we have killed the alternator by jumpstarting another vehicle

The alternator is not needed to start the car, it is used to keep the vehicle running once it is started. If it is not starting then you will need to have your battery tested. Most part stores will test your battery as well as your alternator for free (on or off of vehicle). Also suggest inspecting your battery cables to ensure they are tightened properly and clean.
