Brakes problem
1998 Nissan Maxima 6 cyl Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 217200 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
While driving my car and I press the brakes to stop my car starts make a grinding sound as if the brakes are grinding metal to metal against the rotor on the driver's side and I just had the brakes replaced and a fairly new rotor on the front tires, what could be the problem.

Hi there,

You will have to check that the brake pad is installed correctly and all retaining clips and springs are installed. Check that a stone has not lodged between the rotor and the backing plate, as this can make a terrible noise as well.

i have a 98 maxima as well, and after taking off the calipers and testing them while not on the rotor, the were stuck. So we had to replace the entire caliper (and changed the rotor for the heck of it.) Fixed.
