I have a 1996 Nissan Maxima and the engine was rebuilt in 2004. My connecting rod broke April 2009 not sure how it happened because I changed my oil frequently. Overall the car is in good shape. However, I just need to know what to do should I fix the rod, buy a new engine or look in to getting a new car? I went to a few mechanics and they all said that I might as well buy a new engine because with the labor charges the work needed its going to cost the same as buying a new engine, and who knows if it will break again. I’m a college student and need the least expensive way to get my car back on the road. What do you suggest?
