Engine Mechanical problem
1996 Nissan Maxima 6 cyl Automatic 183524 miles

Hey guys im wondering if im having a problem with the alternator. Last week my car stalled and my dashboard lights were fading. My mechanic tested the battery and he said that was the problem and the alternator was fine. I got a new battery and a week later im having the same problem again. I have not changed my alternator for quite sometime and i have a feeling thats the problem. Thanks.

Hi latinboy909,

Thank you for the donation.

Yes, it seems the charging system is at fault. Get the alternator charging rate tested, your mechanic should have tested it in the first place.

If you have any power sapping accessories, get them checked out as well. they could be using more than what the alternator can produce.

Accessories such as power AMPS and aftermarket HID lights do drain the system when in operation.
