1995 Nissan Maxima Runs rough/no power

Car runs bad. No power. Disconnected the exhaust at the cat and car runs much better but very rich. Car also seems to run very rich with exhaust connected but there is no power. Could this be the cat converter causing the problem?

To rule out the Cat do a backpressure test on the exhaust system

Running rich:

Possible causes include a bad O2 sensor, excessive fuel pressure (bad fuel pressure regulator or plugged return line), leaky fuel injectors, dirty air filter or restricted air inlet, or a defective coolant sensor that prevents the engine management system from going into closed loop mode
