1992 Nissan Maxima compatibility of tranny

1992 Nissan Maxima 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic high miles

Ibought a usedtranny out of an 1987 maxima and was assured it was compatible,but the guy who agreed to install it states its not,because of the plugs i,e. the wirers have different ends and #of wires,the old guy i bought it from states,quite emphatically,its the same tranny,thta i just need to use my old pllugs ,wiring ,and is more than happy to refund my money,visibly ican see no difference,please help me asap,my soon has many medical issusses and appointments!thankyou jeff turlock,ca.

Hi there,

The 87 has a RL4F02A Transmission while the 92 had 3 different transmissions fitted RE4FO2A, RE4F02V & RE4F04V i would be thinking that the transmissions are not interchangeable.
