The car starts up like normal and goes into gear (drive) and (reverse) like normal but will not move. What could be the problem? The car never showed any signs of the transmission slipping or any other problems for that matter. Please help me figure this out I've been without a car for four weeks now and it's not easy getting around. Please help.

thank you

If it can move gear to gear and the linkages are okay-you have internal problems with the transmission

You can also check to make sure the linkage on the transmission side or near the brake booster is connected. The bushing in these cars are so old and can come out of there holder, thus being able to shift, but the car wont move, if the fluid is burnt smell and lookes black, then the trans is probably burnted up, just a guess.I know these bushings are availible at the dealer, but they want you to buy ten at a time.I would check at the transmission shops, thats where I found mine and I have stocked these before at the shop I worked at.I have the same problem and the bushing was gone and the cable came out. Easy fix scale :2
