Hi, I have a 2006 Nissan Frontier 3.0 diesel turbo. It has suddenly started to blue smoke (very bad when moving off from standstill. The turbo has a much higher pitch than before.
I guess my problems are with the turbo but am wondering what my options are. Could this be a turbo seal and can this be repaired by a relatively skilled mechanic at home or are special tools needed

HI there, if he turbo seal has failed, it will go through quite a bit of oil, you can get oil spots on the rear of the truck as so much oil is passing through the system, now turbos are very much a specialist repair and i would not even attempt to repair one in my commercial shop, they get sent out to a specialist, i would get this inspected for a fault.
