Engine Performance problem
2001 Nissan Frontier 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Manual

I turned my cam shaft while the timing belt was off. Now the valves are hitting pistons.(knocking) What can i do to correct my problem.

Hi there,

If you have cranked the engine over , you may have already bent a valve, otherwise you will have to carefully move the crank a small amount , then the cam, just feel for the pressure of the valves touching to guide you. remove the spark plugs first as this will make the crank easier to turn. go gently and yo will not have a problem.
