Air Conditioning problem

I have a 1994 Nissan Altima 90,000 miles (this site is great and a valuable resource). My air conditioner has worked great for since I replaced the freon a couple years ago. However, last weekend my air conditioner stopped coming on. When I checked it out the AC pipe was cold and had ice all around it, the pipe was completely white. When the pipe defrosted the air conditioner started to work again. Now its not working at all. Any suggestions on what might be the problem? Thanx in advance
