I have a 1998 Nissan Altima 4 cyl 2.4L w/ AT, 188000 mi. I think I need to replace the oil pump.
The oil pressure idiot lights lights after the engine gets to operating tempurature. The light will come and go depending on RPM. goes away if rev'd to 4-6000 RPM, might stay off 30 sec to a min., but then comes back on. From what I've been reading, replacing an oil pump is involved. What's required to be removed to get the pump replaced?

Its a crankshaft driven pump it located behind the front cover oil seal.

Try tesing the oil pressure by using a gauge in place of the oil sending unit.

Oil pressure @ idle 11psi and 60-70psi at 3k rpm's.

Good luck
