Engine Compression Problem

I have a 1996 Nissan Altima with 189,000 miles on it. It is a 4 cylinder engine. The car regularly dies when it is idling or if it is going at below 30 mph.

I have taken it to numerous garages including at least 4 diagnostic tests all with different conclusions. I have had a districutor, a distributor cap and plugs replaced within the last 3 months.

The most recent is two very conlusions, one that the entire engine needs to be replaced because it has lost all its compression and the other that only one fuel injector needs to be replaced.

I have also been told that the engine compression can be revived by removing the spark plugs and pouring a 1/2 cup of oil into (I am not a mechanic so I could be wrong on where it goes) the fuel injectors

Any thoughts?

The compression will rise temporarily as it is sealing up the leakage...temporarily. Disregard this thought. Get the compression specs and post them.
