Can anyone tell me why my Altima's heat is hot when the car is in motion and cold when idling? Is there a way to fix it?

I am not a car expert, however, i have experienced the same problem with my 2005 Altima SE. I had it serviced today and here is what I got....

The computer diagnostic check came back normal. The mechanics digging found nothing out of wack. So, it came down to back flushing my heater core. While this did not completely solve the problem, it did help. So what that told the mechanics and myself is that my heater core was getting/is clogged and flushing it helped some. The next step we are taking is to do a chemical flush of the heater core which will remove the calcium build up. And if that doesn't solve it, the next step would be to replace the heater core...which would be about $700 (labor, labor, labor!).

Anyways, after having yet another problem with my Nissan Altima, I am in the market for a new car. Just three months ago I had my alternator quit on me, which led to the battery needing to be replaced. I have a 2005 car, with 46,000 miles. I am sick of dealing with problems on this car!

Good luck to you! I hope you have better luck with your Nissan than I have had!
