2003 Nissan Altima power steering pump

I live in Chicago, my steering get really stiff and loosens up after a while. I have a hard time turning the wheel as if it is manual steering. I think my power steering pump needs to be replaced.

With the conditions you described I would say you probably have a failed power steering pump. Keep in mind if the pump has been worn for some time you may want to flush the lines when you replace the pump.
