2001 Nissan Altima loud Whining noise when accelerating

Have a loud whining noise coming from engine
when accelerating. Also have sudden lose of power
with a clicking sound while driving at 50-60 mph,it cuts
out for a second then enine resumes running.

Hello scfreem Check the charging voltage check drive belt. the noise may be the belt is loose/Slippery or alternator bearing failure, or a bad diode that is allowing current to flow in the wrong direction.
