the ac only works while fan turns on. the fan turns on only when you turn on the car, and intrmitently while car is on. It only turns on for about 20 seconds at a time every 5 to 10 minutes. I have changed the ac relay, and have checked the ac and fan fuses. What is wrong? is it a sensor? Thanks, David

Hi David,

Thank you for the donation.

If you are referring to the condenser and radiator cooling fans, they only run when the AC compressor is working or when the coolant temperature reaches to activate the fan control.

You should be looking at why the compressor is not working and it could be the controls.

If it is the blower fan motor that you are referring to, it could be a failing blower fan motor.

If any work had been done to the AC, check if the freon had been overfilled.

Check coolant level, any overheating of the engine would cause the compressor to be stopped from working.
