Hi billyboy44,

Thank you for the donation.

The tors wrench size is T50, (tamper resistance) and you should be able to get it from any parts tools outlet.

Hi,

One more questionif you don't mind.

How do you remove the side bolts from the 1999 Nissan Altima passenger side airbag? Does the dashboard need to be removed? I cannot see how to access the bolts.

Thanks

You are welcomed to ask any questions and I would try my best to get the answer for you.

The air-bag system has to be deactivated before working on them and accidental deployment can occur if not handled correctly.

Disconnect the battery negative terminal and then positive terminal and wait at least 3 minutes before working on the air-bag system.

Here are the procedures.

PASSENGER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE
Removal & Installation

1. Remove glove box assembly. Disconnect air bag module connector. Remove right upper knee protector and right side ventilator duct.

2. Remove and discard 2 tamper resistant Torx bolts (tamper resistant, T50) from bottom of air bag module. See Fig. 8 . Remove 3 bolts from side of air bag module. Remove air bag module by releasing clips from top of instrument panel. Use both hands while removing air bag module (air bag module is heavy).

3. To install, reverse removal procedure using NEW Torx bolts. Activate air bag system. Check AIR BAG warning light operation.
